Membership
Becoming part of a local church family is a really big and important decision. We encourage people to pray and think about church membership. Church membership is about belonging to a local church community and being involved in its life, work and witness. A member is someone who is committed to the local church and recognises that a particular fellowship is their spiritual home, where through faith they belong.We believe in the ‘priesthood of all believers’. This means, for example, that we do not regard ministers as being closer to God than any other believer, and they are certainly not infallible! Nor do we go along with the concept of a one-person ministry. Church membership allows everyone to be involved with the decision making and shaping the vision of our church community.
How do I become a member?
If you are interested in coming into membership then please speak to our minister, Adam, or one of the deacons. We can arrange a transfer of membership if you are coming from another fellowship. You can contact Adam about membership by clicking here.After you have requested more information we’ll take time to explain more about membership to you. We then arrange for a deacon and a current church member to have an informal chat with you; this is not an interview and is nothing to worry about, rather it is an opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us better.
At the next church meeting the deacon and church member who visited you will give a short report of the time they spent with you and recommend your membership. The church members will then approve your application. We will then welcome you into membership at the next communion service at one of our Sunday services.
